As some of you may know, I wasn't able to make it to the banquet this year as a result of an early arrival of a future racer. As a result, I wasn't able to thank all the people that help make this race series possible. First off, I would like to thank all the corner workers that stood out in the cold, damp weather this year. You guys and gals have the best seat in the house, unfortunately sometimes the roof leaks! All that damp weather resulted in a fair number of tip overs this year, so a big thank you to Jaimie, Simon and Ken who teched and reteched all those race bikes this year. The speed in which you were able to make it through the line ups of racers in the morning and the thorough checks of bikes quickly put back together to try and make a restart was greatly appreciated by all the racers. Thanks for sticking to your guns and ensuring only safely prepared bikes make it on to the track. Thank you to Don, John, Rick, Dave and Paula for ensuring the races run as smoothly and safely as possible. With 14 classes, 5 practice sessions and it never ceases to amaze me how you guys never seem to get flustered or make a mistake. Thank you to Bud and Suzie in the scoring shack for ensuring the dbCom system runs smoothly and produces accurate reliable race results. Long gone are the days when timing and scoring took days to figure out. Thank you to Chris and Corey for doing such a great job announcing this year. I don?t think either one of you had seen a motorcycle race before this year, let alone announced, but you picked it up quickly and did a great job all year long. Thank you to Rusty Townsend for taking on the job of coordinating track teardown. It?s a thankless but invaluable job. Best of luck to you in Edmonton, you will be missed. Thank you to Mike Thompson for stepping up and assuming the role of track setup coordinator. This is one of the toughest jobs as the track needs to be setup quickly and consistently or delays in getting on track result. Thank you to Gail Lalonde, I think you put more miles on that pedal bike than most racers do on their race bikes. Your help has been invaluable over the years, making licenses, running from registration to tech, to pre-reg to add last minute racers, doing all the gridding, etc. You have been a tremendous help to all of us. Thank you to Nancy for stepping up and helping with the trophy certificates. Dean and Meighan, thank you for maintaining the website and pre-reg system. You done an incredible job in ensuring all our IT needs are met. Nikola, thank you for always being one of the first to volunteer to help, and for always wanting to do what?s best for the club. Thank you to all our club and class sponsors. Without your support we wouldn?t have been able to put on this race series let alone invest in nearly as much airfence as we have over the years. A special thank you to all the racers, general members and racing enthusiasts that come out every weekend, helped setup and tear down the track, helped promote the club, brought out a friend or just started racing ? thank you. Your support helps keep this club going. Although I won?t be staying on as President next year, I will continue to support the club as past president and I have every confidence that the club will continue to produce some of the best racers and racing in western Canada. A final thank you to all the members of the executive - Bernie, Jayson, Mike, Dean and Ken. You hard work this past year has been incredible. I?m proud to say that we have run this club as a team over the past few years with some pretty good results. I am also proud to say that you are all close friends. When I was in a tough spot these past few weeks each and every one of you didn?t hesitate to ask what you could do to help. Thank you. Thank you all for a great 2010, I look forward to seeing you all in 2011.
Ryan, congrats on the new addition to the family. Hope everything is well for you and yours for years to come. Adding a new live into the world has been a wonderful experience for me and I wish you the same. I also wanted to thank you for everything you have done for the club. Along with the volunteers, the rest the WMRC and all the supporters. Thank you!
Well said Ryan! Congrats on your new addition to the family, we'll have to have a future racer photo taken next year....except that Toth kid has a head start on both of ours!
Very well said, Ryan, and I would like to offer my own thanks to the tireless volunteers, race officials, executive members, cornerworkers, web wizards, gate workers and everyone who makes it possible for us to go out and live our racing dreams. Thank you, also, to everyone against whom I raced this season, for their sporstmanship, competitiveness and great riding. I can't wait for 2011!
