Anybody run these? How do you deal with the intake noise? Gotta find some way to keep up with all the Ducatis out there. Andrew
I have flatslides on my SV and the induction noise is a pain in the butt.We have fitted foam air sock/filters and run a ZX10 muffler on the Hindle header. The last race weekend I was sound checked over the limit even after adding an end plug to the ZX muffler. My sound overage is all from the intake.Ryan W. has the same issue and is looking at fitting an aftermarket air box.At the very least you will need a very quiet muffler, filters and line the underside of the tank with sound absorbing material.Even with all that in place be prepared to deal with "sound issues". I would only install flatslides after doing the cam swap and oversize pistons.Good cams and an overbore will add considerable power. The carbs are about ease of tuning and improving power delivery.
Andrew, on that motor the flatslides are a waste of time. I have a speedwerks aribox on the way, but induction noise as Kelly mentioned is a huge pain in the @ss. I have UNI filters, 2 layers of car stereo sound deadening under the tank, some sound deadening on the frame rails, fresh repack on the muffler, header wrap and plug in the muffler. I also have the sound deadening on the inside of the fairings. I barely make sound and I'm always f*cking with the bike to get it quieter. The new airbox should help, but it will also need to be lined sound deadening. As Kelly mentioned, unless you have an overbored motor with some cams in it, the bike isn't going to make much more power with the addition of flatslides. Flatslides will run you about $1,000, $300 for the airbox and the throttle response is less linear.
LOL! Says the dude who split his cases last year to show how clean his pistons were! I doubt those same pistons and rings went back in Don't you own a shop with access to some pretty trick parts?
Carbs are old school. I'm surprised that I was able to get the 60mm RC51 throttle bodies to fit the SV
