Just noticed this on the SCCBC forums, I'm curious how it would react in a motorcycle crash, or if a rider was sliding over it. Has anyone seen it in person? http://forum.sccbc.net/YaBB.pl?board=trackops;action=display;num=1351213012
SCCBC is already using their own home-made version of eco grid on the outside of Turn 1. When we did the work party with them last year, there were a couple of our guys (I think) tasked with expanding the already existing installation of what is nothing more than paving bricks with large holes on the outside of the alligator on the exit of Turn 1. There isn't much of it there and it's there to prevent ruts forming from the cars putting their wheels outside of the alligators into the dirt. Others can comment on traction over this sort of surface. If a motorcycle slid over it in a crash, I expect it would be preferable to have these pavers instead of dirt ruts to catch the bike in and turn it into a ball of metal after it comes to rest. It sort of looks like this and allows vegetation to grow through it.
That was myself and Andrew Marles that did a lot of that work over a couple of their work parties. I was just curious if this was any different/better/worse.
