2011 race days

I know the dates aren't usually known until around the time of the bike show, but the 2011 vacation schedule is making the rounds at my office and I'm hoping to request some Fridays, etc. to make practice and race days. I was just wondering if it's known when the dates might be confirmed (if it's soon I'm going to try and stall submitting my holiday requests a little longer ).

we're still waiting Mel... As soon as Dean gets the phone call he will let us know. I'm still waiting to print posters for the bike show.

Did I miss the post or is this the latest that we've ever had to wait to find out the year's race dates....

I'm not sure, Nancy. I know they're usually announced at the bike show, but I won't be able to make it to the show so I thought I'd ask now, just in case the dates got finalized earlier.

 

At the meeting on Monday, April 30 / May 1 and May 20/21 were for sure dates with May 20/21 being the WCC Round 1,

Further dates were being worked on,

We are still working out the details, but those are 2 firm dates so far to go by.

 

Thanks, Blair and Dean! I took May 19-24 off as I had a hunch we might get that weekend, and I may still be able to get a couple more days for the Apr 30/May 1st weekend.

are the sept.dates out also? at this point we're at 4 rounds? ouch!

 

Like was said in the earlier posts Lu, we are working on the remaining dates. Have a little patience and a little faith in the exec members and everything will work out just fine. Just make sure you're ready to race!

June 20th

I'm marking the race dates in my calendar, and just noticed that Jun. 20th is a Monday? Is that a typo? Or are we actually racing on a work day?

 

It's not a typo. There are 2 mondays in the schedule this year.

 

I was relieved to find that the other Monday is a holiday, which makes it much easier, especially for us Islanders.

I can also get June 20th off so it looks like I can make it to all the rounds this year!

I have a question. I know there was a round or 2 a few years back done at the Chilliwack airport i believe. I know it may be more expensive and complicated, but is doing a round at a different venue an option in the future? Considering we always get the left over dates at mission, and they charge whatever they want to us. We don't have any other tracks and it seems like our club gets pushed around more compared to others that use the track. just a thought.

 

We had one-off race days at Chilliwack in '96 and '00, plus national rounds there in '97 and '98, but I doubt we'll be able to return there. If memory serves, the city officials were none too pleased with the promotor of the non-national events (someone unrelated to the WMRC), which didn't bode well for running there in the future.
