I heard Pirelli isn't paying contingency this year. The only OEM size decent replacement I could find was Bridgestone BT003RS. Anyone else having trouble finding race rubber?
I've heard you can run 160s and the profile doesn't distort badly, so why not run a fatter tire? Bridgestone tires can be found from our sponsor, Western Powersports. Roland was bringing those in.
The BT 003rs is the tire that seems to do the best from what I have read. Bridgestone is the tire that may be offering contingency this year. Talk to Roland and let him know that there is interest in this.
The bike is light and putting out little power. The 003rs will provide plenty of traction for a stock bike. 125gp slicks will also fit, however without being able to adjust the suspension these will probably tie the 250 in knots.
I found no info about 2011 contingency except this letter I found on the WERA forum. Bad Intelligence!!
For those of you who are not in the know Marbod is the Pirelli dealer. If you have questions he has the answers. Cheers, Ryan
Question for all you 1/4 litre riders. What's the deal with the side stand mount that sticks WAY down passed the fairing. Does it not hit the ground when leaned over to the left? Even with the stand removed the mount hangs down 3 inches.
WMRRA rulebook is having riders cut it off in order to race with their club. We aren't requiring that mod, but it's probably in the riders best interest to cut that monstrosity off.
I raceprepped an 08 Ninja 250 for Brett Celsie when they first came out. The long protruding sidestand tab on frame had to be cut off as it was dragging all the time.
Call the salvage people and get your name put on a list like a lot of us have. Supersport in Langley, Chop Shop in Richmond, and Merritt Salvage in Merritt. Merritt is more old parts though.
If you're on the island talk to Scott Collins at Adrenaline. He just missed a bid on a 250 that went for $300 and it was only low sided. BK has a BRAND NEW unit for sale for $3999!!!!!!!
BTW......WHo's heading this up (250 cup). I get calls everyday.....yes everyday from stores, reps, OEMs, racers. Who do i filter the calls to I don't have time for this. I have never seen so much interest in a class as this.
The rulebook will be out in a few days. Have them direct all inquiries to this thread here. It goes like this: The WMRC has built rules for a 4 stroke 250 production cup. Rules have been made to minimize changes to the bike, and all modifications, unless expressly allowed (bodywork, rearsets, spring rate, brake pads and lines), are forbidden. Glass and lights must be removed, and the bike has to be safety wired as per WMRC rules. Anything beyond that, like contingency, prizes, etc, are all up to the dealers and Kawasaki Canada. The WMRC doesn't administer any of that. We build the race and officiate the results. If people wish to gain more information, please email during the week at ddrolet at gmail dot com, or call 604-328-2453 on weekends.
