He's okay. Broken collarbone. He's a little sore, but he'll be back for the August rounds for sure. I'm sure he'll post up in a few days.
Thanks for all the well wishes from everyone!! Was going to start a new thread but Rusty took care of that for me. Thanks man. Btw, you were on fire in the wet! Same with Richard Maurice!! I have a broken collarbone. Came into T7 made a mistake and downshifted into 1st instead of 2nd (really mad at myself!!) Back end was all over the place while i tried to gather it up. Ran straight in the braking zone and just missed the haybales except the last one which I ran over launched me over the bars and I guess I landed a certain way to break the collarbone. It would have been great if I missed the bale and came back on track in something like 7th to make a comback through the field. Attending at Mission Memorial said it only takes 8lbs of pressure to break a collarbone. I figured mine would have been good for at least 10lbs damnit!!
Go see Dr Boyer or Dr Perey at the Royal Columbian bone clinic. Based on that break, they'll get you into surgery and pin that up right quick. You'll be tossing bales for our next track setup if you get the surgery! Just go to the hospital, go to admitting and say "broken collar bone. I've been referred to the bone clinic". Both Tim Kingston and I can attest to how good they are there!
Glad to see you're well enough to post up about your condition, Spero. You were having such a great weekend and it was a shame to see you suffer that injury. Heal up fast and see you out there soon!
Sorry to hear about your bad break, Spero, and hope you heal up quick Cool pic of your x-ray... did you take a picture of the hospital technician's screen? I showed your x-ray to my wife, so she could see where my collarbone separated from my shoulder and understand why I get a funny bump on my shoulder when I move it. I'm still waiting to see a specialist, but meanwhile I'm using it without too much trouble. Anyway, your break had some nasty sharp edges... that must've hurt
Get well soon there Spero, I had alot of fun racing with all the boys and hope to be back there soon.
Hey Spero: Get surgery for that thing. Dr. Boyer is top notch. He did my operation last year and I have been very pleased with the result. No on-going pain and you could be ready for the June round. Also, not having the surgery will almost guarantee long term weakness and inflexibility on that side. Because you are young and so active, the surgery is highly recommended. Dean is right: Dr. Dory Boyer is the best. I am good friends with the guy who hired him years ago...my firend was the head of Otho for RCH, Vancouver Gen, and St. Pauls. He said Boyer is like Ice Man...no mistakes. Anyway, glad that you are not hurt too bad. Good luck and get back soon
NOOOOO!!!!! SPERO!!!!!! Heal up quick big guy, that collar bone break looks nasty. No bench presses over 300 pnds ok!
Thanks everyone!! I'm going in for another x-ray in 2 weeks. Meanwhile not being able to workout that side is really pissing me off!! At least I can ride my bicycle for exercise.
I broke my collar bone on the 97' sport bike west ride - Yah that was me " bail on the bridge" they called it. It seemed to take forever to heal but prob two months - never got surgery, but you can see the height difference now where it heled itself - Take care Spero!
