    2012 250 rules

"8.4 no master cylinder modifications or replacements of aftermarket
    aftermarket levers ALLOWED"

I guess I won't be entering the draw for the Pazzo levers at Bernie's Daytona party.

Stupid question of the day. It says Master cylinder or aftermarket levers, is this only discussing the brake? The 250 Ninja has a cable clutch so no master cylinder on that side.
I know the spirit of the rules would read "no aftermarket levers" but I am just asking.

    a better question would be

"How much faster will my 250 be with a lightweight aftermarket clutch lever?"

So.. I think you found one of the "lost in translation" items.Sensibly it would read no aftermarket master cylinders,COMMA,aftermarket levers allowed.
Also note that the definition of allowable mufflers is a little "short " on explanation. Up to 750cc bike must run an OEM street legal mechanically baffled unmolested muffler.ANY muffler that meets this definition is legal.Example all the F2's with race headers and GSXR mufflers grafted on ,or my SV running a Hindle header with a ZX10R stock unmolested..... muffler.

Jayson my 250 would be a lot faster if I skipped lunch for a month, the only thing the aftermarket clutch lever is going to do for me is not be too long and prone to crash damage.

You will also note in the rules that DOT Race or DOT Rains are required. That means NO slicks.

Let's recheck the tyre rule post .Dot required for dry races. "Race" rains for wet races was what was discussed .Can we get a ruling ?Nicola? To not allow full rains on the wetcoast would be wrong.

Kelly relax, you can still sell me slicks.

Quote "8.9 Tires may be replaced with those more suitable for racing, but replacement tires must fit on the original manufacturer?s stock rims for that model. Slicks and non DOT rain tires will be allowed."

Sorry Dean I don't see anything specific under the 250 rules about tires and everything else for the class says to follow the Supersport rules which allow "Slicks and non DOT rain tires allowed".

So...still a bit of confusion out there about the rules.Everyone take a deep breath...and exhale.Good.If you find something poorly written/confusing take a minute and ask yourself what would the logical answer be?My interpretation of the rules is,fundamentally we are running supersport rules with
-No motor work allowed. stock engines
    -no aftermarket mastercylinders
-no race MUFFLERS.All bikes must use a oem-stock mechanically baffled street legal muffler.ANY muffler meeting this criteria may be used(remember we still have a 88db limit. This is to ensure no sound issues (at either tracks running 250's).Example I run a ZX10R muffler on my SV650.
-no slicks, dot's only except for wet races where full race-rains may be used.
    -no airbox mods
    -no race fuel
So lets sort out the suspension, fine tune fuel delivery, find the right gearing and go racing!
Hope this helps as it is the "formula" I have followed in putting together my CBR250.It has been fun building a bike without having to do any motor work.I have concentrated on setting the suspension for my weight and crash proofing(meaning remove all the expensive shiny bits!).
