Thought I'd start this thread before the banquet plans get firmed up. I went to my first banquet last year, and well the MC (Ryan W.) did a fine job, I was somewhat dissapointed with the "after party" which was basically non-existent. I drove from Van Isle, so my costs were greater than the mainlanders, and when you spend $300+ to go to a "party", you expect to party. It seemed that as soon as the awards were handed out, it was like, "ok, see you next year". Call me a piss-tank, but I'd prefer to dance and celebrate after the awards presentations. Anyone on board with me?
I'm with you Dean, I would like to see a bigger after party as well. The exec is looking at other venues, not that there is any issues with Newlands, but it's nice to keep things fresh. As Ryan Welton put is so eloquently "Who turned on the ugly lights??" Which actually means if we don't crank the lights up full bright right after the awards, but instead clear the buffet, open up the dance floor and turn up the music, it would actually be a party, not just an awards banquet.
Hey I drove down from Kelowna and I had a great time, had a few with some guys after but all in all I thought it was fun.
