You are all saying the same thing, but if it were to be a WMRC event you would not want to be caught with any flags, timing and scoring equipment, or radios, all that would have to be sourced down there. Hopefully the track can supply but you'd need to look into it.

Unfortunately my current health situation will not alow me to make the meeting, however should a season be salvaged I'll do what I can to make every event possible.

    So true my friend......

Too bad that you won't be able to attend. I, for once, will be down there.

Unless, of course, the person transporting it was a US citizen.

Then there would be a export/import rigamarole to go through.

All we need now is a Canadian track that likes bikes.

Kind of like all the other provinces in Canada? (except Saskatchewan). Ontario now has four National level tracks, Alberta will have there second nice bike track built soon and Quebec has at least three. Even Manitoba has a bike friendly track. If there is that big of a line up of clubs in BC waiting to use a track, there must be a decent financial reason to build another. Is anyone in the club friends with Bill Gates?

Nicola is right we'll never race down south as a stand alone WMRC. but we could as a club join one or two of there weekends, we could debate whether we score points or not for our championship, as a group we my be able to negotiate a deal for us to race there, maybe recipricle membership? I was just thinking about those guys. It seemed like Steve Dick had the closest contact with the developer. I didn't like the chances of it in the mid 2000's when there was a lot more hype and a published investor package but does anyone have any more recent information?

    Poked it with a stick.

    It didn't move.

It was dead before it even started.

Is it worth someone on the executive poking Active Mountain with a stick and seeing what happens?
If they have done some work before it was abandoned then its closer to finished than starting from scratch somewhere else.
Government grant, a year's worth of turning over all the avenues to funding and promotion of motorsports might get us somewhere.
If it gets us nowhere then at least we would know that we will have to deal with the sports car club at Mission for the forseeable future and we will need a way of making weekday races work for the club.

It doesn't take the executive to poke it with a stick. We are busy enough with other things. If someone wants to poke on our behalf, go ahead.

My company took over Active Mountain's old office in Yaletown... for the first few months, we had some very interesting characters coming around looking for the bigwigs from Active Mtn... they were long gone.

The land is now used annually for one stage of the Pacific Forest Rally, and not much else, except for locals on dirtbikes ripping around when no one is watching. When I was there for the 2008 rally, I spoke to one of the rally directors and he told me there was never a real chance of the track being built. Evidently, the promoters had promised at various times: a Nascar oval, a road course, a NHRA-spec drag strip and a cart track... but no money came through.

There was a local investor in Merritt who was legit and I believe he ended up investing in the Sagebrush Golf Course just outside Merritt.

Sure is a beautiful spot though, and there is tons of room for a road course - this shot is from 2008:

As it stands, I think WMRC's wagon is tied to the Sports Car Club for the foreseeable future.... sadly :(

If you had read the Memorandum of Offering that was put out to potential investors you wouldn't have put a plugged nickel into it.

Essentially, they could take your money, do whatever they wanted with it (INCLUDING PAYING OUTSTANDING DEBTS INCLUDING DIRECTOR'S FEES) and then they put it in writing that there may still never be a racetrack.

Your first step would be to offer to purchase the land from the owner(s). They are the ones that run the Merrit Mountain Music Festival.
