looking to get my body work sprayed. there is no damage, just time to change the colour. scuff it and shoot it. thanks
Two tone base+clear will run you about $100-150 in paint. It's usually cheaper if you prep it yourself - primer, sand etc. Let the painter do the final wipedowns with acetone just before painting. And the painter usually has a brand of paint that he uses. Get that, as opposed to what others recommend. He's used to it, mixing ratios, nozzle size etc. It'll turn out much better. You might get away with material costs and a case of beer if you're willing to put some stickers on the bike.
now we are talking. haha. its a race bike. its going to get crashed. anyone have an HVLP and want to practice on something? anyone have an hvlp that they want to loan a guy for a case of beer? ill spray it in my back yard. it doesnt have to be great. just usable.
I like how you do quality control. True enough it will be scuffed up. Just gotta look good going by on the track.
Paint'em Well there it is, Ryan is a sweet heart and also sells tires to his fellow racers for next to nothing Just be warned that if you are going to HVLP your own bike to get the following items at your local auto shop (mine Lordco) :Wax and grease remover, tac cloth, mixing cups with lids, 220/600/1000 wet/dry sand paper, reducer, and gun wash... The last one is most important because if you're gun isn't clean you can't spray..... reducer works in a pinch as well. Good luck, post pics!
There is no worse sin than returning a paint gun to its owner in a not-clean condition... Unless it's one of those Bynford KMS el-cheapo's, in which case do the owner a favor and just toss it. Give him/her a case of beer, and say your dog ate it
