A couple of folks asked me to post the ?fire? shots from Round 2 at Mission today. I haven?t had a chance to go through all the other, uneventful shots from the weekend yet, but here are the shots from today?s fire. These were all shot from across the track in Turn 5 with a long lens, so they are no the sharpest shots, but you will get the idea. The saddest photo of the year? Although he was unhurt, Calgary?s Rob Darlington walked away from his burning R6 at turn 2 @ Mission. Rob low-sided and slid on the wet pavement into the air fence, and his bike caught fire immediately as it slid down the track. The bike left a trail of flames as it slid away from Rob: The bike was well on fire as it slid out of frame: Nikola and other riders avoided the flames and continued: Ken, the corner worker in T2 today did his best to put out the flames, but his 5lb extinguisher was no match: Rob walked away as the crash car got there:
I think it took a total of 6 or 7 extinguishers to finally put out the flames: The aftermath: The clean-up:
Hey Tony, I'll contact you, as I would like to purchase these shots. Something that should definitely go up on my wall of shame
I realize it was cold out there but isn't that going a bit too far? Sorry about your bike, glad your ok.
