one of the new guys this year...pickin up all my gear now...Gotta suit from tap on its way....few questions:

The suit i tried on puts major down pressure on my shoulders even in tuck position...seems to small but thats what they said i need - barely fits...that ok?

Armour - back/chest protector enough under suit....anything else?

Shorts and t-shirt under suit ok?

Is there stretchy / padded shorts out there for a little extra protection to where under suit?

I heard mouth guard ( like in hockey ) is recommended - guys use that racing?

Helmets are $200-$2000....$3-400 helmet should be safe for racing?

thanks....next week.....help me set up my bike!

    Amory Slow? What's slow?

I use knox armored shorts...I crash alot and I have yet to hurt my hips/thighs/butt so they must work :p

For helmets, the more you spend the more you get. If you but a cheap helmet, it is going to be heavy and poorly ventilated. That being said you dont have to spend $2000 but you can get great helmets anywhere from 400-700 that are light and will keep your head cool.

Under-armour to wear under the suit, you need to break-in the suit. Wear it(with back protector in) around the house for a while, even do some streches and knee bends.

As for a helmet, have you talked to your local shop? Try! Get a good helmet that fits a little tight.

I've got the Acerbis shorts. Just like the six six one, knox, or any other brand. They can all be ordered online or at your favourite retailer. I got mine from MSpeed Performance, now conveniently located in Vancouver right next to storm brewing!

Just to let you know we are having a pre season sale on Bell helmets. We do offer the Star series but for a racer on a budget looking for a good lid at under 200$ we offer the Vortex series. The Vortex are 1600grams (really light) and carry the new snell 2010 approval!
check them out at bellsports.com then call for a price

I just ordered Alpinestars Compression Shorts and Alpinestars Bionic Back Protector (Which I may change to the track vest which has front/shoulder protection). Ordered them from Bayside Performance.
