Why does it matter if it is a DOT?

These kind of "extreme" (for better edge grip and drive, but necessitating chassis setup modifications) tire profile has in the past been used only on Slick tires. Now Pirelli has brought that to the DoT street legal tires as well. The new 200/55 DoT for the "big" bikes is another example of that.

Btw. These are the exact same tires that were used for first time in WSS at Donington last weekend. We received our first shipment just this past friday.
Win on Sunday, sell on Monday!(or in my case, sell on Tuesday through Saturday)

What tire were they using at Phillip Island?

I think the question should really be, what tire pressure were the affected teams running?

Just checked out your web site - WOW! That is one hell of a press release! You and Rossi - Ducati dudes! Let the good times roll...

So are you going to race MWSBK with it, or brave it out in 600 Supersport?

The three teams that experienced flat tires(as well as a few other teams ) at Phillip Island were running the Supersoft compound against the express recommendation of Pirelli. Phillip Island with its extremely high cornering speed is very hard on tires ,tire wear there is extreme.
The three riders who got the flats literally rode right through the cords(suspension setup probably wasn't ideal either) , hence the gradual deflation, completely unlike the catastrophic sudden tire failures you get with Chunklops.

Btw, Austin, how's your bigbore 600 " Supersport " build coming along?

That's a reasonable explanation, certainly more down to earth than the tire-pressure/humidity story.

I ran out of money after I paid you for the suspension and exhaust. At the moment, I'm trying to pawn everything so I can buy Mr. Nadolny's 750.
