Cannot say how much I was impressed with all the racers on track today, almost zero on the damage scale, some pretty impressive lap times, and even though the schedule wasn't perfect I'd like to think we all had a pretty good day. Big thanks to everyone trackside, I had more fun today than I've had for ages, I truly forget sometimes how much I love being a part of WMRC. Until I stall my RC on the starting line................ And to all the exec's, mucho gracias for number 13, you all know how long I've been waiting on this number.
After sun. now. Dispite the low number local riders and the uncertain future , I was impressed by the great effort put out, especially in promotions. From the exec. to the guy doing the 250 cup, to Pattrick and his BMW Ducati team, even Ted made a boring race seem mildly interesting and an exciting race seem awesome! I just wonder how he know's what it's like to " take a handful of nun's to #5 orange" ?
Ted, you made the weekend for me. I know I told you a bunch of times that you were doing a good job but man I was smiling in the pits listening to the call. I was able to follow the race action from the pits even if I could not get to the stands to watch. Thank you very much!
Yeah Ted, you were, as always entertaining. It was good to see you, we'll have to get together when you don't have a mic in your hand so we can actually talk. I do want to say, however, until Borthwick got on the mic, I didn't think anyone could out "speedtalk" you. That guy's gotta lay off the energy drinks.
Great job Ted. All of my friends and family that came out commented about how much they enjoyed your commentary. Very entertaining, even during practice.
It was a blast yesterday as well, all our racers who took to the track did us all proud. From Bez being on fire to Scotty Borthwick who out-talked me to Ali Cohen showing us guys a smooth line or two and then the best part was Rusty walking around at the end of the day. I only wish we had ten more race days this year but no matter what we're going to enjoy the F%^& out of whatever track time we get. Thanks for the kind words you guys, it'd be pretty hard not to get amped up calling our races. Didn't I say WMRC breeds the best?
So good to see Scott Borthwick at the track and Ted Shannon in the tower on the mic (when we could hear him). Our whole row missed all the calls for OSS on Sunday. I was last one out, shouldn't have done the warmup lap dammit! Bez was on fire all right!! It's always been  #14.... but now it's  #14 & #11. It was a great weekend although that 600SS race on Saturday should have been mine! Good riding Richard! HUGE THANKS TO ALL THE CORNER MARSHALLS!!! Sorry that I broke the rules to pick up Rusty's bike in T6, I was worried it might oil the track. Glad to see he was more or less okay.
No worries - Dave Collis and I were stabilizing & restraining Rusty, who wanted to jump to his feet before the ambulance got there... we didn't have enough hands to pick up the bike, so many thanks for your help! Ted had us laughing in Turn 5... with lines like "Man, I gotta stop drinking... " whenever he lost his place... great and very entertaining job indeed!
While we're at it I'd like to thank everyone who came by and had a burger at lunch time, bought a 50/50 ticket or some retro swag over the weekend. I haven't finished adding stuff up yet but it looks like the club made a few bucks and I know we had some fun. And I'll jump on the bandwagon and say great job on the mic this weekend Ted!
Thanks I would like to thank everyone from the exec and the volunteers, to the racers and spectators for coming out and putting on another great weekend! I would also like to thank Tony, Dave, Spero, and the paramedics for taking care of me. I appreciate it! As for injuries, just sore in the ankle, hip and back. I take a lickin' and keep on tickin'.
It certainly looked worse - glad to see you pedalling in the pits soon afterwards... by thumphoto, on Flickr
