Just checking to see if the executive is planning on working with EMRA to revive the WCC before it's too late. Is there a club representative who is designated to work with the EMRA WCC rep? I believe it's in the interest of both clubs to ensure this series is saved. I personally believe that if 250 Production/Gold Cup is added as a series for the WCC, it may help bring up numbers of WMRC racers who will make the trek to Edmonton.

I'm glad you brought this up. Obviously it always depends on the dates but I'd really like to see this series continue. We sure need to get more WMRC riders out there though. Regarding the gold cup, I think the biggest stumbling block at this point is that EMRA doesn't really have a 250 class. Do you know if there are many people running those bikes at Castrol?

The EMRA 2014 Rule Book has 250 Gold Cup listed as a race class. I heard it's not growing fast like ours, but at least they have it listed as a class.

hello boys, I can comment on the 250 class in Edmonton. Last season we didn't have anyone score points in that class. I think throughout the year we maybe had 2 or three bikes come out. While I agree adding the 250 class may entice more riders to come out towards castrol next season, we still need to have entries in the premier class (Superbike) and the other WCC classes. A 250 class could be added but then what is the enticement of your 250 riders coming to Castrol, none, they could win the WCC just by racing they're home race. It's just my thought, but if the wcc is going to continue, there needs to be a commitment by both clubs to be sending bikes both ways for the different classes. I know I personally took last year off from the WCC for issues that I will address with Andrew shortly, but I had planned on running the series this year. I know there are a few other guys that make mission a planned trip and will likely continue to.

    Colin/Andrew/Dean,

Perhaps the best thing to do at this point is to really put our heads together to figure out how to get the WMRC guys out to Edmonton. EMRA has been extremely supportive of the series, unfortunately we have not reciprocated.

I think now is the time to think about bike transport, gear transport and accomodations. Maybe to help offset costs if we get a hotel deal or even billeting? I've got a spare room and a futon if any Edmonton guys want to crash at my place.

I now live 14 minutes from Castrol Raceway. I also have spare rooms and lots of garage space (one of our garages is set up as a workshop).
Would be more than thrilled to help out my WMRC buddies. Especially if you bring your marshals.

I know there is still intrest from guys in Edmonton, but as a racer just like you guys, I know I would want to be proud of winning a class. The feeling this year from the class winners was kind of "big deal I ran a class that no one raced in". Again I am speaking not as a rep or a exec as I am neither. But realistically we would need probably 10 racers from each club to confirm to making this happen. I remember having Bez,Ken,Dean and ryan coming out our way to name just a few and it really added to the weekend having some of your fast guys come out our way, and well some of our fastest guys always make a point of comming out west. Do you all have a rough tally of how many WMRC would come out to castrol. if the series continues im sure we from the EMRA would find our usual group that comes out west.. thoughts?

Also hotel deals can be put in place pretty easily I think. In fact we had one last year but I don't know if it was promoted.

This is something that I had asked after our wcc double header weekend, and there was little said. I for one do Really hope that this can be revived, and more so, thrive in the future. especially if one of the other alberta tracks comes to fruition. as colin has said, getting a hotel deal in place is probably not going to be difficult. I believe it was Spero this past season who had mentioned at your rounds of putting together some sort of convoy to make it as easy as possible for people to come out this way. perhaps this is something that can be spearheaded again.
i think it would be good to get ideas flowing early if we want to see this happen for 2015

I for one, would like to see Formula Classic added to the WCC. I know there is a strong group of two strokes running around the track in Edmonton, and would very much enjoy racing alongside some TZ's.

    cheers

After my posts on the EMRA forum, it seems Justin is only interested in hosting the "premier" big bike classes, ie. Superbike, Open Supersport etc. I'd love to see 250 Suspersport/Gold Cup added as it's such a fast growing class (all across North America), but it doesn't sound like they have the numbers in Edmonton. It's too bad so many guys think the newest, biggest bikes are what racing is all about. I for one would much rather watch 30 little 250's dicing than 8 superbikes strung out over a kilometer around the track.
Yeah I know, I'm an asshole because I speak my mind.

i dont think it is so much of the "only interested in the premier classes" but more of the, if we cant even get people out to compete in these classes, its hard to justify adding more classes.
as for the formula classic, im not sure as well that we have many competing on these bikes either. colin may have a better idea of that though. ther may be 1 or 2 that i can think of at most. we do have a fairly good sized formula thunder class for the 2 and 3 cylinder bikes. which i believe is a WCC class already.

I made a wcc revival post over on the EMRA forum as well. try to get ideas flowing up here.
one idea thrown out there already was the possibility of some sort of discounted race fees on WCC classes for the visiting riders. how much would need to be determined. in the end it would be a benefit to the host club if it attracts more racers. 10 racers paying 200$ is better than 3 racers paying 250$ right? (arbitrary numbers)
