Folks, I am writing what will hopefully be a catch all posting that will go on the CMRA, EMRA, and the WMRC forums.

There is lots to update and a few reminders about this the Calgary round with both some good news and some not so good.
    First the good news.
Last year everyone asked for a Friday practice day and we tried to explain that by the time the 2009 WCC had been formulated, the track bookings for the year were done and the CMRA could not get the date. This year we promised and delivered the Friday practice day. Friday Sept 17th will be practice all day. Gates open at 7:00 am, Riders meeting at 8:30. Track should be live by 9:00 am. There will be three groups: 1:33 and higher, 1:26 to 1:33, and 1:25.99 and faster/lower lap times.

The next piece of good news is that the CMRA has adopted the Zoomius timing and registration system similar to Edmonton. We STRONGLY encourage all racers to register as early as possible in case there are issues with the new system. Also, there is a late registration fee if you do it upon arrival at the track. For the visiting racers who have to cancel out 24 hours before the event, we will work with you to minimize any fees you may have already paid.

Regarding the classes, the WCC was designed to fit the local race classes (and to race by the local clubs rules). For the CMRA rules please see http://www.roadracing.org/about_us/rules-forms.html

The WCC classes and the corresponding CMRA class to enter are listed below:

    Battle of the Twins (BOTT)
    Open Thunder

    Int. SS 600
    Middleweight Amateur

    Exp SS 600
    Middleweight Expert

    Int. Open SS
    Heavyweight Amateur

    Exp Open SS
    Heavyweight Expert

    Int. SBK
    Open Superbike

    Exp SBK
    Open Superbike

Please note that the CMRA only runs 1 Superbike Class but for the WCC points, the Amateur/Intermediate riders will be separated out from the Expert (Black Plate) riders for WCC points. The CMRA class points will be as per usual with club points awarded on our regular method.

On that note, the CMRA needs to confirm that the 675 Triples are allowed to run in the BOTT. They are not allowed per CMRA rules to run in Thunder but it this bike is allowed to run in the BOTT at the other 2 tracks, we will allow it to run in our Open Thunder to score towards the WCC but will not score towards the CMRA Open Thunder series points. This will be confirmed with Justin and Ryan. These racers MUST register early enough for our registration person to over ride the system to allow this bike to enter.

Some more good news is that we hope all the visiting racers who qualify for other events such as Senior Open (35 years or older), Sportsman (10 year old bike), Ducati Cup (118 RWHP dyno class) or any other race that you can fit in.

Last year, we made arrangements with 2 different hotels near the track. Unfortunately the number of people who took advantage of this was so small, that we did not make arrangements this year. The closest place to stay is the Deerfoot Inn and Casino. http://www.deerfootinn.com/

For those travelling in an RV, you will be allowed to stay at the track starting Friday night but there is a Friday night ?Secret Streets? drag race event going on so do not expect much peace and quiet.

Now for the not so good news.

The CMRA had discussed trying to have qualifying times for the gridding. Unfortunately, we have not worked all the bugs out of the Zoomius timing system so we are not able to do this. Gridding will be the same as last year. We will add more comments on this as we get closer to the weekend.

Also, this time of year it is getting much cooler in Calgary. Depending upon the weather gods, we could have a cool track for part or all of the day and caution our visitors from warmer climates to keep this in mind.

This year, Rob D has ?volunteered? to assist me with the WCC portion of the race weekend. Most of you know Rob as black plate #33 from Hardnox Racing. His email is rob@hardnoxracing.com

Our registration person is Crista. If you are in the registration system and there are issues, she can assist you. crista@hardnoxracing.com

You can always contact me at joe.p@canyontech.ca and I will do what I can to assist you.

We look forward to hosting all of you and if there is anything we can do to make your CMRA experience more enjoyable, please do not hesitate to ask any of us.

    Thanks!
    Joe P.

Joe, 675 Triples are only allowed in Edmonton and Not the WMRC. If you want to run BOTT in the WMRC you have to have a twin or single cylinder. 675 Triples are allowed in our 600SS classes.

Yep, I got registered for the race days, but it would not accept my practice day registration?

I'm also wondering if our RFID tags from Edmonton would work. Same system, so it should and those of us who've raced there should not need new tags. Also, that admin fee should be waived for the WCC, as that was previously agreed upon by all parties prior to the WCC becoming a reality.

Linda, are you going to make the trip to Calgary?

I am chatting with a Calgary client tomorrow or Tuesday. I may visit him on Friday and stay for the weekend races - not sure yet. He may also be flying to Vancouver next wknd - which means I will stay here.

Edit: A family illness will keep me in Vancouver this weekend. Looks like a wet wknd in Calgary - hope everyone has a safe wknd and avoids the whale snot on the front straight/drag strip.
