So hypothetically, if a fella was to freshen up a 1st gen SV motor, and , using all stock parts, now has a tad bit more compression then he used to have. At what point, compression wise, would you not be able to use pump gas anymore?

Eddie, I ran pump on my supersport SV and I was fine. Use chevron 94. The new SV is pump c12 mix just to be safe but it could run on pump. Talk to whoever is building the motor.

If you are building it your self, well then may god have mercy on your soul...

I did build it myself. Well Ken started it and I finished it. 100% stock. new oem rings, new oem pistons, ran a hone through the cyclinder and Bobs your uncle, higher compression. Scary eh?

I don't know who said it but I read it somewhere. Seems to fit here.

"I guarantee it will start and I guarantee it will blow up. What I can't guarantee, however, is the time in between the two."

At what point do you "Start" using race gas? When Bez goes whipping by you on his 'stock SV' and all you hear is him giggleing as he goes by.

Race fuel adds up plus it damages the cylinder head over time so if you can avoid using it, do. My borrowed SV runs on pump, amen,

Sure it runs on pump, but the 2 mm overbore helps...

Overbore does squat if the compresssion stays high. Either way, Rick built this for pump gas, and it runs fine, so this way, its cheaper to race,
